Well, my true crime itch kicked in shortly after Whitey Bulger was arrested, so I ended up getting The Brothers Bulger, Hitman, and Black Mass, that all deal with Bulger.  I liked the Bulger Brothers - the detail it was written in, but got a good look into Massachusetts state politics and the corruption it entailed, and that was a bit depressing for me - almost afraid of reading any stuff that deals with Illinois (since I live there, and the corruption isn't any better in Illinois now like it supposedly is in Mass.) politics because I know it will be the same.  I'm halfway through Hitman now - it's about one of the people Bulger used to kill with, that when all the indictments came down, once he found out that Bulger and another guy were ratting on them to the FBI, he turned around and confessed all he knew - with the requirement that he testify in court to the details on any criminal and civil cases that came of it.  I also got a couple other organized crime books that I've been wanting to read for a while, like Donnie Brasco - why see the movie when you can read the book is generally my thinking on things like that.

I also read " Too Late to Say Goodbye " by Ann Rule - talks about a murder of the wife of a dentist in an Atlanta suburb that I had seen profiled on either Dateline or 48 Hours Hard Evidence.In the fiction category, I just finished Chasing Fire by Nora .  I've had it for a while, but just read it a couple of weeks ago.  Interesting little whodunit with a fire jumper (for wildfires) backdrop.  Read an anthology of 3 JD Robb short stories in Time of Need.  And I pre-ordered a Nora book that's going to come out in the fall, I think November.  It's one of another trilogy.

Well, you asked.  I read....a lot.  It keeps me sane, and hopefully keeps certain parts of my brain working.  I'm still on the fence about getting the Dugard book.  I hope writing it was therapeutic for her.

..Anyone reading anything really good?  My reserve on Jaycee Duguard's book is ready so hopefully I'll be able to pick it up tomorrow.  All I have here is Ann Coulter's Demonic and I'm not in the mood to read that right now.  Any suggestions especially true crime/detective genres ... hugs, Cait

After working at CPS all those years I have an aversion to reading about crimes against children. I had my fill, unfortunately. I am glad Dugard and Smart seem to be doing so well.
