Guest guest
Hi all, I was recently very generously given a truly wonderful cane/walking stick by a dear fellow EDSer. He and his wife actually, I believe, originally purchased them for purposes of walking/hiking while on vacation (like when they are touring something which involves more walking than usual and might include covering terrain which has a slight slope or incline or may even be bumpy with an uneven surface). The brand name is Leki, and on the cane it also has the words " Premier " and " Traveler " and " Certified Walking Gear " and " Anti-Shock " . It has several really wonderful qualities which make it unique, and better than any cane I've ever seen or used. I'm not getting a darned thing out of recommending it, and this is definitely not a plug for the company that makes them by any means. I just simply discovered a remarkable product through a dear friend's generousity, and wanted to share the information. One of the neat features is that it is telescoping, and adjusts at two places. You can actually adjust the height of the cane to very, very tall (as tall as a tall man) to use as a hiking/walking stick, or make it very, very short for those of us who are " vertically challenged " like me. Personally, I've always had a problem finding a cane short enough to use comfortably, and I can't be the only one. Another terrific feature is that this cane is spring loaded, which actually gives it the quality of shock absorption! In addition, it is super easy to adjust the height. That is very important to me and to all of use who have severe arthritis in our hands. It locks into place quite easily and stays put. Finally, this cane has a very comfortable handle which just plain old feels good in your hand and is easy to grip. It isn't " slippery " . It even has a leather " shoestring " loop which is attached to it through a small round hole in the handle. That makes it easy to loop the cane around something (like a shopping cart or wheelchair handle or your hand) to keep it from falling/being dropped. My friend said he got it in a sporting goods store which sold hiking gear, I believe, but I also think he said you could find them online. I'll look for a link and send it if I find one. Again, it's a LEKI cane. Love to all, ~LoneStarRose~ (~~) ~LoneStarRose~ (~~)
