Guest guest
I think I have finally figured out what "middle age" REALLY is. Tomorrow (well, probably today by the time anyone reads this) will be my 57th birthday. I cannot remember the last time anyone gave me a birthday present, made me a birthday dinner or surprised me with a birthday cake. Seems those things are reserved for the very young, where we delight in seeing their little eyes light up like the candles on their cake. Or the very old, where, out of guilt, we shower them with "aren't you glad you made it this far" birthdays and buy then pricey things, hoping that they will will them back to us in a few (short) years. So I am between both. Ergo, middle aged. Got it. Now I understand. ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ Pragmatic Visionary http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php
Guest guest
Akiba, I always thought that middle age was halfway between birth and death adding maybe 7 years on both sides. But, if I were to use your description of middle age, I hit middle age when I was 20. Maybe even 14. Maybe even younger. My birthday is the day after Christmas. So, we were on school break. Christmas takes up a lot of time and money, so it would be rather selfish of me to expect a party or presents. Anyway, Happy Birthday! If you were living up here an signed up for The Palace Restaurant's Birthday Club, you could get a free birthday meal, excluding beverages. Or you could get $10 off any other entree. Guest guest
Selfish of you? No, I rather think it was selfish of whoever planted that idea so deeply into your psyche....YOU did not choose when your were going to be born, and to deprive a child of their birthday just because it falls near a holiday is heinous. Rob went through something similar, Thanksgiving falls ON his birthday many years. ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ Pragmatic Visionary http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php -- Middle ageTo: mserslife , wayofthewingedheart Date: Wednesday, July 20, 2011, 7:17 PM I think I have finally figured out what "middle age" REALLY is. Guest guest
Robbin's is 2 days before Halloween, so I make sure they are separate, and he has HIS day. ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ Pragmatic Visionary http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php -- Middle ageTo: mserslife , wayofthewingedheart Date: Wednesday, July 20, 2011, 7:17 PM I think I have finally figured out what "middle age" REALLY is. Guest guest
Both of my grandsons' birthdays are right at Christmas - one on the 26th, the other on the 28th. They still get their " own days " . I can understand the idea, though, from the good old days when parents were poor; we were military kids, and nobody got to have their birthday until after the 15th of the month payday!
