Guest guest
Maybe this will help Chris. You are at 5 weeks. At 6 weeks I was still on TWO crutches. Then one crutch for another 6 weeks. I didn't have to return to work ASAP (I teach), so I took a semester off. I needed the time. At where you are now time-wise, I was still doing naps and watching old movies on TV. Faster recoveries? Yeah, there are some. But slower ones also. It is what it is so, just give your body permission to move at it's own pace. We all get to that place of wellness eventually... You can't push it. Lois C+ 3/27/03 Dr. Mont Blue Friday.....waaaaaahhhh.. Yesterday was my first day back to work. I flamed out about 1:30, as much mentally as physically. But I made it through and came home bummed out on how jacked up I still am! I KNOW that I am improving, and that there is no reason to believe I won't make a full recovery. But I just wish the wellness train would move a little quicker! I still can't exceed 90 degrees flexion. And I still walk with a limp when I don't have a crutch. I also know that I have to stop comparing myself to other " faster " recoveries. And I do take heart at the happy ending posts. Congratulations Cindy and Des. Someday I look forward to taking a walk with you, Cindy (my brother lives up the gorge a bit), and I can't wait for a good kick in the head, Des! I missed you guys the last two days....no computer access on our job site. C+ Amstutz 4-15-04 P,S. Steve from Colorado, are you OK? Havent' seen you in days. Guest guest
The walk sounds good, but as for the kick, you don't know what you're saying, my boy. Steve from Colorado, are you OK? Havent' seen you in days. I just figured everybody deserved a break from me cluttering up their inboxes. I'm continuing to improve - I'm at day 32 and I notice improvements every day. Started the car yesterday, but concluded that I need a few more days before I'd trust myself to drive it any distance. I guess German sportscars are not the most practical vehicles for the immediate post-op period. I achieved a minor triumph a couple of nights ago - I managed to get those goddamned TEDs on by myself without breaking any hip restrictions! I can't divulge the exact methodology until the patent clears, but all it requires is a Klein bottle, a couple of 12 meter long cosmic strings, and about a mole of unbound quarks. Once you have these, the process is ridiculously simple. Hey, Des - when can I start kicking my students in the head again? ;-) Steve (bilat C+ 4/20/04, Amstutz)

Guest guest
Steve... Seems to me the cosmological issues should be a piece o' cake after the mysterious technology that makes hip resurfacing such a magnet for us, no? (I'll presume your German car is one that requires both feet for take-off. If you're talkin' a five speed, or six, let us know how that works) Alan > > Yesterday was my first day back to work.
