I have not had experience with these patients, but I understand dabigatran to be

a drug which a lot of cardiologists are excited about - it doesn't require

careful monitoring like warfarin and is viewed as more predictable in renal

insufficiency. Usual dose is 75 - 150 mg twice a day for stroke prevention

(usually due to AFib).

Any doc's on the list willing to offer more insight and/or corrections?

Also, medscape is TEEMING with information on dabigatran, and they have several

podcasts regarding it. I'll send links when I have access to my own computer.
