Guest guest
Hi Joyce, Thank you for your reply. I am so sorry you have had so much trouble with your TMJ dislocations too. It is funny that you mention it worsening after ENT surgery, I have actually had ear problems most of my life and have endured many surgeries on both ears...I wonder if that or any of the other orthopaedic surgeries have contributed at all. I will have to remember to ask whoever I see about that. I spoke to my BP yesterday and he wants me to tell my regular Os so that he can refer me onto a max fax surgeon within he department. My OS, Mac is great so it's probably the best way to go....although I'm not too thrilled at the idea of seeing yet another surgeon. Oh well, I know I need to get it checked out properly as it's getting silly now... I'm struggling to eat and drink at present, as every time I move my jaw it is clicking out of joint. I am terrified of going to the hospital though as I don't want to end up getting the jaws wired - I'm just a big wimp really!! I had so many problems with my teeth due to over crowding and a high palate as a child and I remember only too well how uncomfortable and painful the various wires and braces were then. So the idea of ivy loops and elastic bands really has me cringing again! The elastic idea sounds a lot better and more comfortable though, a real " why didn't I think of that " situation! I will go through the wires, braces or even worst case, surgery if I have to though as I don't want to end up getting knocked out in ER to have my jaw reduced as often as I did with my shoulder. Do you mind my asking a little more about your surgery please and ask whether it has been worth it? I am hoping that I can avoid any surgical intervention of course but would like to know a little more just in case. Thank you again for taking the time to tell me about the braces/brackets, they sound like a much better option to the ivy loops that is for sure!! Take care. Love and hugs.....Jo xx
