Guest guest
What did you base you decision when picking your surgeon to perform the resurfacing proceedure. With the new HIPA rule its almost impossible to secure former patients tesimonials of their proceedure. Were you able to get a history of procedures performed by the surgeon regarding competentency. Also when did you decide it was the right time to resurface. I know everyone is different but is feeling bad 50% of the time enough to take the risk of surgery. I asked my doctor what type of therapy would be required after surgery. He said just walk. Is that correct? As of now I feel I'll be losing more than pain by not approaching this responsibly. Guest guest
Hi, It seems to work better if you just name who you have in mind and find some of their patients here. My own choice was simple - there was only one doctor who could do the extra of chipping the bones apart as the starting point. But usually everyone has more choice than that depending on how far you wish to fly/travel......... My right time to resurface was the day after I heard someone would do it............ waiting the 3 months to op day was torture............. but again others wait for a variety of reasons............. money, insurance, fear, hoping for new procedures etc being high on the list of why............. Much of it is personal risk assessment and others can never truely know anothers circumstances that governed the outcome of an individual decision............ how informed that was or otherwise etc...... and in the case of any failures just what they went into the op with.......... and even good surgeons will admit that xrays don't tell all the story.........and there is always some degree of personal luck involved in these things............. i.e. all looks straightforward and the individual comes off the table with a problem - be that an infection or the tap of the hammer created a fatal crack. Lastly, while walking is recommended as that will help to strengthen the bone under the cap etc.......... a major consideration.......... as far as I am concerned you cannot beat swimming/pool work for increasing the ROM and a range of other body supporting muscles........... From my experience time spent in a pool with what we Aussies call a noodle - long piece of hard foam - does wonders if only to show the brain what could be possible on land if it got the muscles working........smile.
