Guest guest
From my own experience with the two services I work for, we leave the equipment one the patient, unless removed right away in the ED. We then have to go back to retrieve said equipment later, but it is usually put away in a supply closet waiting for us. About the only problem I have encountered is an ED physician wanting to cut an air-splint off, not realizing that it was secured with Velcro. All of our equipment is prominently marked with our service names.  McGee, EMT-P, EMT-T  Subject: Leaving equipment at a hospital To: texasems-l Date: Saturday, September 4, 2010, 7:59 AM  Hello all - Quick question, how do other departments handle re-usable equipment (i.e. Vacuum splints, traction splints, etc...) that may be left at a hospital with a patient? Do you leave it and try to retrieve it, insist it must be taken off patient prior to the EMS crew leaving, or do something else? Thanks for the help.
