Guest guest
I have had problems with medicare and other health plans. I understand you completely. I can't get any mental health help because no one in the area takes medicare. I am having the same problem finding an ortho. I still have the untreated osteomyelitis in my ankle as well as this week a pin broke through the skin. I Now have an abcess and cellulitis over the joint. I have been to the ER at Duke multiple times. I am going to have to go again but it sounds terrible that I am waiting till I get so sick they have to take me. My fever is going up but by tomorrow it will probably be a true emergency. I was there less then a month ago and they referred me out to an ortho group the ankle specialists in the group turned me down because of the medicare. I even went begging to the guy who did my surgery t hat caused this last summer. He is wiling to see me NEXT WEEK but his advice was if you have an infection go to the ER. It was like he hadn't even read my 3 page letter. I wrote it explaining the diagnoses I had and it was just asking for help. NO blame or anything. My brother-in-law is a Dr. and he has a certain percent of his practice tha he does for pro bono. Too bad he is an allergy specialist and not an ortho!
