My doctor had me take it for a week prior to surgery and afterwards until all the swelling was gone. 30x is the potency I took. It comes as little pills you put under your tongue untill they dissolve. You can go to www.elixirs.com and type in arnica to read more about it. Sometimes health food stores carry it, or you can get it online, the above company, or from Boiron also. I also took Nux Vomica after surgery to help flush the heavy drugs, etc. out of my system and to help with nausea. For what its worth, Nux is also good for hangovers!
