Swarm of bees sends Phoenix motorists fleeing

PHOENIX (AP) — A swarm of bees at a west Phoenix intersection sent

motorists and pedestrians fleeing and left one person hospitalized.

The swarm shut down the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Greenway Road

Wednesday evening.

Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Capt. Tony Mure tells The Arizona

Republic that a 42-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition. Two

others

were treated by paramedics at the scene. Four horses and six dogs were also

stung.

Two other bee incidents were reported in Tolleson and Glendale on

Wednesday, killing one dog and stinging several people.

Bees frequently swarm in the springtime. Officials warn people to avoid

loud noises or wild movements that may disturb the bees.

Actually, the bees were on a mission to find the members of the Arizona

Legislature who were leaving town after their latest comedy production. They

just got a little lost. Being lost in AZ is common, particularly among members

of the Legislature.

Arizona strives to beat Texas in the number of certifiable idiots it elects.

We're not even close yet, simply because we have a much smaller Lege, but what

we lack in numbers we make up for in sheer depth of stupidity.
