The swarm shut down the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Greenway Road Wednesday evening. Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Capt. Tony Mure tells The Arizona Republic that a 42-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition. Two others were treated by paramedics at the scene. Four horses and six dogs were also stung. Two other bee incidents were reported in Tolleson and Glendale on Wednesday, killing one dog and stinging several people. Bees frequently swarm in the springtime.
