Hi All of my CEDA family:

I am faced with a dilemma.

I have a serious problem with my Right shoulder & have had multiple

reconstruction's on it over the years. But, doing it again is simply not an

option, as

there really isn't enough tissue to work with, though I have previously done

well with them all, over a period of years,

My Docs (most of whom are in NYC) & I have discussed 2 options. We've

discussed either a modified replacement, which most doctors really do not

believe is

a good idea, or a shoulder fusion.

I've been active on the list almost since it started & have been to all of

the EDNF conferences, except for 3 of them. I know I've heard people say that

either they or people that they know, have had shoulder fusion's, with good

success, but I haven't a clue, who they are/were.

If you or anyone you know, has had a shoulder fusion, whether it was

successful or not, PLEASE write to me, either on or offlist, at

boop4@...

Of note: I have had 40 - 50 operations, mostly on my knees (including

bilateral TKR's 11 years ago) & shoulders & have always done very well with

healing,

increased function, decrease of pain & increased stability, except for a

recent failure with an ankle fusion, which was compromised by outside factors.

I have the Hypermobile Type & most people that meet me for the first time,

don't believe that I've ever had any surgery, that's how well I normally do with

surgery!

It would also help if you told me where you are located/where the fusion was

done if possible, who did the surgery & where it was done.

Please write or call if that's easier & I'd be happy to call you right back.

Thanks in advance.
