Guest guest
For and all you hippies who feel you're not progressing fast enough: I had my left hip resurfaced by Mr. Treacy three years ago this June and I still feel like I'm getting stronger. I had a real slump at seven weeks post op when I tried to walk without any canes for the first time. I limped terribly. Mr. Treacy wanted me on two sticks for 4 weeks and 1 stick for 2 weeks because my bone density wasn't too hot. I was terrified of getting a fracture, and babied myself maybe a little more than necessary, but eventually I learned to walk again without lurching. This spring I finally feel like I'm where I want to be. My flexion still isn't perfect, but I stretch a half hour a day, lift weights another half hour several times a week, and walk another 30 - 40 minutes a day vigorously up and down hills. Plus I have an active lifestyle raising plants and gardening. Mr. Treacy thought my bone density would strengthen through use, so I'm trying my hardest to toughen it up. Don't be impatient! Just be thankful for every little improvement, and rest assured you'll continue to improve for a long, long time. Be kind to yourself.
