The first one was just with my GP to discuss the results of the MRI

I had done on my right wrist last month and to discuss my pulse

rate, tiredness and lightdeadedness. There is nothing physically

wrong with the wrist, just tendonitis yet again. He didnt even give

me any suggestions on bracing or icing etc. Just basically

completely gave up on the wrist. He asked if there was anything

else and that is when Mom popped up. She had came with me as, even

though I am 22, the doctor(s) still dont tend to take me too

seriously. Well I thought she was going to bring up the pulse rate

so I didnt say anythign. Well she launches right in to how I am so

depressed and they dont know what to do and all this kinda stuff.

Then she said " her pulse rate is constantly high but that was

probably from the morphine right? " . He agreed to that and then I

got a nice long lecture about how I need to find a hobby and get out

of the house. Joint a sports league (yeah right!), join the Y (have

tried that 3 times, alwlays hurt something badly just before I go to

get a membership) or pottery (where did that come from!). He told

me to stop focusing on the 'little things' which I took as an insult

from him as I felt it was in the context of basically just stop

worrying so much there is nothing wrong with you! Then I got the

speech about how everyone has something wrong with them and I should

be lucky that the condition I have isnt fatal. What a great doctor

huh? Thankfully the appointment did go a lot better medically then

mentally! I had an ECG done this morning and tomorrow I go to get

fitted for a 24 hour holter monitor.

The second appointment was great!! It was a new doctor (well oral

surgeon / dentist) so I was really leery about having to explain

everything to him. Well he goes through looking at my xrays,

explains why they need to be out, goes through all the possible side

effects and the likely hood of them happening. He then goes into

asking about my medical history. Mom brought up the EDS

and 'explained' it. I had printed out a few articles to make it

easier for him. He picked them up and glanced over them quickly and

asked if he could make a copy of them so he could read them before

the surgery!! He says that it HAS to be done in the hospital as

there are too many 'underlying problems' that he would prefer to be

doing the procedure in the hospital as there is everything there if

he needs anything. As we were in there he discussed how he did the

procedure, what precautions he was going to take with me, how he has

a 'wonder drug' that will cut nausea and pail for a few days that he

will give me in the IV before I wake up. I also discussed that I

would need a non-tylenol based pain killer so he will give me

percodan. Some of the precations are that they will be very careful

while moving me when I am out, he will use a 'small prop' to keep my

mouth open instead of a big one and he will try to put as little

pressure on the jaw joint throughout teh procedure. So I got on

Sept 3rd at 3pm to get mine out. Later than I would have liked it

(would have prefered to get it done in teh next few weeks but oh

well, such is life. At least I wont be missing any school because

of it as we dont start back until the 13th (which i have to miss for

the pain clinic initial appointment lol)

Hi Stacey,

I'm sorry that 1st doctor appt. was so silly! Giving up on your

wrist?? Just tendonitis? No anti-inflamitory?? I would think that

may help it! I've practically always been on an anti-inflamitory, as

there's always something inflamed or that has tendonitis or

something! I would ask about that. What's everyone else think??? As

for getting out, Yes, I would say that would be a good idea, but it

has to be something you enjoy! Think it over and make a list of what

may interest you. Even walking at a mall or something?

I'm glad they're going to put you in the hospital to remove the

teeth - plus, I would think that would make it easier for the

insurance to cover everything for it.

My doctor appointment was ok. He thought my itchy scalp is just dry

skin, and said to ask a hairdresser I trust. I have, and he's

supposed to be ordering an oil to massage my scalp with, so we'll

see. I told him about my problems with hubby, and asked about Buspar

to help me over rough spots, and he agreed that it could be helpful,

so I started that last night. I begin at a low dose and gradually

work up over a period of 15 days. I hope it helps.

Talk to you later!
