Guest guest
61 dead LEO's by gunfire in one year is at least 61 LEO's shot at in one year. I won't look for a stat as to how many are wounded but not killed and I doubt one could find a reliable stat on those that were shot at but not hit even in 2011 with the Internet, suffice to say it's a higher number than 61. I worked Camden NJ in the late 1980's I've got a story or four but they are meaningless when you have 61 dead LEO's in one year saying cops getting shot at is a myth is IMHO but considered opinion an extreme disservice not only to the 61 aforementioned Officers but to every LEO that pins on a badge each shift they work. The streets of the US are not the streets of Iraq for a reason and while there is certainly a great debt owed to the US Military for that fact Rob you of all people should know that those Officers that do pin that badge on each day are a part of that reason that the streets of the US aren't like the wild west and the streets of Baghdad. We're talking about being shot AT, not being killed. Two separate statistics. And even then, it has to be averaged out per capita. I'm sure that Bob Kellow remembers bullet holes in ambulances and stations (Kellis Street) as far back as 1977. I always found it humorous that my family worried more about me as a cop than in fire or EMS. All of my injuries and violent encounters came in the latter fields. Well, unless you count the time I was hit by a car while directing traffic. Rob ------------------------------------ Yahoo! I apologise for the confusion. I wasn't stating that cops being shot at was a myth. I was saying that medics NOT being shot at was a myth. That's why I called it an EMS myth, and not an LE myth.
