Sharon, no firecrackers; I live just uphill from the San Francisco Bay!The noise began the evening of the 2nd, escalated on the evening andnight of the 3d--and I shudder to think how the dogs, cats, birds and allthe animals shall feel by the time it all ends sometime tomorrow morning!I shall celebrate quietly with Edna--we are going to a local Japaneserestaurant that is actually open this evening. I can actually get there inmy electric (batter) powered wheel chair--and back. We get the best service in that restaurant as they have only seen us with me in my "powerchair," and Edna with her walker, purse, etc. (and her famous hats!).As Edna is a widow, we may just share memories of our spouses; herswas almost as entertaining as was my

My deceased husband's birthday was the 4th of July!His mother told me that when he was a youngster, he thought that all the fuss was just for his birthday--back before television and computers.He was a playwright and a lecturer at UC Berkeley inArt History--very entertaining--which may be why he also became a playwright.He was also red/green color blind and so left-handed,as am I, that he (unlike me) had trouble telling left fromright--until I taught him one birthday week-end!He died on April 15, so today, I celebrate his life withmy friend, Edna, whose husband was a friend of myhusband.
