Late in responding but saved due to the fact that - I had been on Buspar myself

in 92 when my now x-husband abandoned the kids and myself- my doctor put me on

it to help with the nerve side of it and those were excellent- I had forgotten

about those- , and I'm glad I read your letter- I am going to mention this to my

dr next appointment- I do think they would help me out way more than the xanax

and wellbutrin, therefore cutting 2 pills out of my massive doses of meds.

I don't have any panic disorders but they did relax my muscles and make me not

worry so much about what was coming up- I could have really used those for the

recent hearings. Why didn't I think of that? Mercy-

Thanks for the input and reminder of it- and wishing you painfree days/nights!

Hugs- TJ

AJ, about anti-anxiety

Anti-anxiety drugs are not muscle-relaxers; they're a class of psychoactive

drugs whose primary effect is to chemically lessen anxiety. Some do have the

result of relaxing muscles -- but that's a side effect and not usual, and a

different drug should be tried under those circumstances. I've been aking

Buspar

for a couple of years now, and it's one of the best things to come out of my

EDS diagnosis. I had no idea my thought patterns and concerns weren't normal

until I discovered what it's like to NOT be anxious about every little thing

--

and while Buspar is the single most expensive drug I take, it's the one I

wouldn't do without for the world. If I'm late with a dose, I can feel my

thoughts circling in smaller and smaller circles around worries and " what

ifs " . With

Buspar, I don't worry about being able to handle what happens to me.

Remember the study that showed a very large number of panic disorder patients

were also hypermobile? It's clear to me that not having my body behave is a

contributing factor -- but it's also clearly not the sole cause for me. It's

made living with EDS a LOT more manageable.
