Description:

The Beale fire 11 miles north of Parks, which dropped smoke into Flagstaff this morning, is now at 3,042 acres. According to information from the U.S. Forest Service, the fire is being managed within a designated 8,000-acre area. The fire is being allowed to burn to restore forest health and reduce the risk of wildfire. The fire is now at the base of Government Mountain, and crews will be working today along Forest Road 793 to secure the southern boundary of the management area. Five engines, one water tender, two crews, on dozer, one helicopter and 58 people are working on the fire.
