Guest guest
I am a very active 45-yr-old guy with bad osteoarthritis in both hips. The left is not to painful, but the right side is. Besides running for 20+years, I was a karate student/instructor and just had to finally drop it, as the pain was just too much. I have recently started educating myself regarding surgical hip solutions. Long story short, I would like to know how to contact Dr. Koen deSmet. Resurfacing appears to be a very viable alternative to THR. He was referred to me by one of his patients from about 2 years ago, who is also very active and doing great, by the way. I travel to Europe semi-regularly and would like to see if I could schedule an appointment with him. Thanks. Guest guest
Jerry, If you live in CA you may also want to speak with JRI and Dr. Amstutz. www.jri-oh.com He and Dr. DeSmet are both excellent surgeons with the requisite experience and track record. Depending on your insurance, you may also be covered for the procedure. I spoke with several OS during the process and found the right one to meet my needs. I am 40 years old also with bilateral OA from athletics. I elected to have the right hip done and monitor the left hip closely. You can speak with other JRI patients that have twice as much experience than I have, e.g., Steve, Dave and others. Look at all your options and find the best for you.
