Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I had my hip resurfaced in England, and Mr. Treacy didn't even recommend a raised toilet seat. The procedure was to slide the operated leg out in front of you, and ease down onto the seat using your good leg, not bending forward too far. It really wasn't that difficult. And bending back behind you to wipe yourself was OK too. As for what to wear, I managed to wear the usual underwear with the help of a little stick device that had a gripper (like tongs). They'll probably give you one at the hospital. You use it as an arm extension to get your feet through the holes, then pull everything up. I took a long skirt to wear, and was VERY glad I did, as my leg was quite swollen at first and I couldn't have gotten into my pants. The skirt was so easy - I just slipped it on over my head and didn't have to deal with bending and pulling. Plus it was colorful and the bright colors helped me feel like cinderella on her way to the ball! Best, Heidi _________________________________________________________________ Get tips for maintaining your PC, notebook accessories and reviews in Technology 101. http://special.msn.com/tech/technology101.armx
Guest guest
If you're less gifted, like me for instance, get online and pick up some California Crazee Wear baggies. They have an elastic waist and expand at the hips for plenty of room and they're lightweight and easily washed. I mostly skipped underwear altogether but if you must, loose fitting and easily removeable is the key to all clothing after surgery. A pullover skirt would have worked beautifully but would surely have raised a few eyebrows!) Good luck!
