The Amish still use treadles, but they retrofit new machines. I could run an electric sewing machine but only when the generator is running. My sister-in-law has an old antique Singer treadle and it works so well. It's beautiful, too, so that's a huge plus. I didn't think anyone used a treadle machine anymore. We have 2 in our storage unit. One was Chuck's gramdma's and the other his aunts.
