Recertification for people holding both NREMT & Texas State Certs

Greetings!

I hold an NREMT-P certification, as well as Texas Paramedic Licensure.

My NREMT-P is expiring in March of this year, with my Texas LP

expiring in July. My understanding of the Recert by Exam option for

the Texas State Certification is that you must take the NREMT

Assessment exam. The catch - 22 here is that the NREMT will not extend

their own certification with the Assessment exam. While I have no

problem completing CEU online for my Texas certification, the NREMT

requirement that only a small portion of the 72 hours for Paramedic be

distributive (read: Online) is a little prohibitive with my hectic

schedule (Not to mention the costs for " refresher " classes are a bit

prohibitive). Therefore, I typically have recertified my NREMT through

the Exam option. Does anyone know if Texas makes allowances for the

certholders to take NREMT's certification exam, or would I pretty much

have the three options below:

1) Take both the NREMT Certification and NREMT Assessment exam, to

recert both my NREMT and Texas Cert.

2) Take the NREMT Cert exam to recert my NREMT-P, and then Complete

the 144 hours of CEU to recert my Texas LP.

3) Complete the CEU requirements according to NR, and then top off the

balance to re-do my Texas.

I am fairly flexible, I'd just like to make sure I'm not re-inventing

the wheel if someone else has been in this position before (and I'm

certain they have).

Thanks for opinions,
