Guest guest
Hi, My name is . I am 43 years old. I am a dancer with " advanced " osteoarthritis in my right hip. I am scheduled to have total hip replacement, but I'm wondering if Hip Resurfacing wouldn't be better for me. Has anyone had Dr. Feldman in Englewood NJ perform their H.R. surgery? Would you recommend him? Why? Did you think the hospital was good? Why? Why did you chose HR over THR? Are you happy that you did? What do you know about Revision Sugery? Thnks so much, elizabeth elimoze@...
Guest guest
, I can't answer any of your questions about Dr. Feldman or the hospital but encourage you to thoroughly investigate all of the options before your surgery. There has been much discussion lately here on THR vs. resurfacing. Messages 26987, 27051 and the many responses will give you much information on the differences between the two. There is also much information on resurfacing given at this site using the " Links " and " Files " that are available. There are two dancers where I am from who have had to make the same decision. One has been resurfaced and the other is scheduled for resurfacing surgery next week. I am 49 and had my hip resurfaced in January. I chose resurfacing over THR as: 1) there too many activity restrictions with THR (with virtually none for resurfacing), 2) the incidence of dislocation is much higher with THR than resurfacing (practically nil), 3) with my expected level of activity, resurfacing should last longer than most THR deivices, 4) revision after resurfacing would at worst be a primary THR vs. a secondary THR, 4) why cut the neck of the femur if it's not broken, 5) the incidence of thigh pain is much greater with a THR vs. resurfacing. For me it was a no brainer. Best of luck with your decision, Fred Dr. Gross, C2K 1/21/04 > > > > Hi, > My name is . > I am 43 years old.
