Guest guest
I think it’s when they get popular they seem to think that their audience will believe whatever they say is the right thing to do. I’ve seen it happen with many people in public service positions eventually get really cocky. Like Dr. Phil. He and Oz may have some good things to say and have helped a lot of people, but Dr. Phil got so bad at telling people they were “stupid†I just couldn’t listen to him anymore. At least Oz hasn’t gone down that path yet, but he still thinks his knowledge is the only truth out there that is worth applying to your life. I guess it’s a matter of taking the good and leaving the rest when you don’t agree with everything. It’s hard though when someone is put up on a pedestal. I also thought that he was rather puffed up about himself, and yes, that also turned me off him.I agree that it is dangerous to make blanket health recommendations. Who does he think he is? G*d?hugs,Kate To: MSersLife Sent: Monday, August 1, 2011 3:10 AMSubject: CAIT......RE: Did anyone watch Dr Oz Hey Cait,…the one with Montel was about legalizing marijuana. I watched it, and he told how smoking MJ, has helped him more than anything to keep his MS from getting worse. Of course Oz had anti-drug advocates saying just the opposite, and I felt bad for Montel because he tried to tell everyone that he wasn’t advocating legalizing it, but sharing how it changed his life, and how he can function better because of it. He said since he started it he hasn’t had a single new lesion, so for HIM if worked good. I almost at one time felt like they had thrown him under the bus, and the anti-drug people plus Oz didn’t accept what had to say. I use to like Oz a lot and liked how he explained and showed examples of what he was show casing for the show, but after a while I caught him saying things that I didn’t agree with, and realized that he was getting pretty full of himself. I looked things up that he said was a certain way and I just thought it can be very dangerous to make blanket statements about something and say EVERYONE should be doing it the way he says it should be done. Then he went on his “fat†reducing promotions saying ANYONE can do this. Etc, etc,. so I don’t watch him much anymore. He supposedly had Montel on and he's had angioplasty. The whole hour was supposedly devoted to ms. I didn't watch it ... I don't watch daytime tv anyway and Oz is really 'creepy' to me ... hugs, Cait
