Guest guest
Hi Jill: Since Life Insurance is such a problem to obtain when having a diagnosis of HEDS, do you know if one absolutely needs the diagnosis in order to obtain disability support. Because of the genetic link, how does this affect my husband and I as well as her half-siblings. When living on Ontario Disability Support payments perhaps one is so strapped for money that payments of life insurance premiums are impossible anyway. Also It seems that Ontraio is going to institute OHIP premiums once again and I am concerned that with the diagnosis of HEDS, we and my daughter will be hit with higher premiums and user fees or receive only limited medical coverage. You have some experience over the numerous years with these systems and I need some input as to your experience and or an educated guestimate as to what you would do. My daughters present lack of stamina, endurance and overall difficulties suggest to me she would not have the endurance to maintain full-time employment for more than 2 -3 weeks before she succumbed to total exhaustion and became even more ill...assuming she could obtain a job. She survives at school because she takes art courses, has a reduced day and because I presently drive her to and from school. We have no real documentation re her difficulties, just that we have adapted to her limitations....I even have to blow dry her hair because expenditure of that energy causes her arms to ache and at 17 it is so important to her to have her hair looking nice. If you need to mail me off list, please do so. Thanks, Bernie
