Guest guest
I don't think it's self inflation. Just another case of there but for the grace of (fill in the blank according to personal beliefs :-) ) go I stories that make us feel good. Here's mine: I had just been diagnosed by a local OS as having AVN in left hip and told to get a THR ASAP. As this meant the end of many activities I loved I was feeling pretty down. A couple of weeks later at work I went to get a soda. An old friend that I hadn't seen in years was at the machine. I told him that it looked like I was going to descend to his non-athletic level since I had a bad hip and I would be reduced to playing golf with the THR. An old joke between us - he's a golfer and I played soccer, tennis, skied, etc.. He said " You should talk to my friend who is getting this new hip surgery " . I talked to the friend who told me about resurfs and surfacehippy. I saw Dr. Mont who told me I had OA (both hips) and was an excellent candidate for resurfacing. And now I'm looking forward to going back to all those things that probably screwed up my hips in the first place. They just fix our hips - not our brains :-). Guest guest
I was really lucky - my local orthopedist actually recommended that I investigate resurfacing. They don't do it, of course, but they'd had a couple of young, active patients who had been resurfaced and were impressed with the results.
