Alan,

You should contact your doctor to rule out csf leaks and other problems. It is

important to keep them posted on any new developments so they can be treated

promptly. Explain to your nsg. what you have told us, he may wish to see you.

Please keep us posted on what you learn.

I think all of the above. It's not exploiting him. There are child actors,

child singers, child musicians, so he is a child artist, as long as he

doesn't mind parting with them, I think you should go for it.

I think a book of prints and actual clocks would be cool. Boone

would love seeing both, but esp. the real clocks I would bet. I

don't feel that it is exploitation at all. Boone loves clocks and

you are sharing it with the world. Very cool...JMHO Leggs

I think I would sell them and save the money for Boone needs and for her

future. I've never thought you are exploiting him. I don't know who told

you that, but it's not true.

Maybe you can start with the book, and prints. Not selling his actual

work. I am pretty open minded and I am sure you would use the money for

good causes and not to buy luxuries for yourself, but other people might

think that way. You have to think if what those people think matters to

you or not.

I am getting requests to sell Boone's artwork.

I have also considered attempting to write a book of his clock drawings.

I have also had requests from people who want to buy his clocks.

However, I have been accused of " exploiting " Boone simply by having a

website for his artwork (never mind the fact that he loves his website

and insists that new artwork is added all the time).

I know I have asked this before, but it is getting to the point that I

am being asked quite often and I feel like I should do something soon.

What would be the best thing to do?

Prints? A book? Actual clocks?

All of the above?

I think Cecilia is absolutely right. Why shouldn't Boone have some

earnings? He may need them badly one day; who can ever predict what will

happen. And he won't care.

If you ever read The Siege and Exiting Nirvana, well, the mother in The

Siege was very careful to protect her daughter's identity, but by Exiting

Nirvana she knows her daughter doesn't care anyway and since she is by then

in her forties, it seems likely that she never will.

Boone is talented! Let him earn himself whatever he can.

Well, I just wrote to Kingsley publishers.

We'll see what happens.

As far as exploitation -- believe me -- I have been accused of it by certain

people. It's like Boone doesn't have a right to profit from his own talents.

Unbelievable.

I found this the other day:

http://www.williamgibsonboard.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=5006046771&f=6406046771&m=

1036090582

It's a science fiction board where they are discussing the similarities

between Boone and his art and new book by a writer named Gibson. The

book even has a character named Boone. (I think I better read the darn thing

and see if Boone's life has been ripped off!!!)

Anyway, they are making comparisons of the characters in the book and me and

Boone.

Freaky to see your life discussed by people who don't know you. One of the

people on the board mentions exploitation.

Why is it when disabled people are able to generate their own income it's

called exploitation????

Oh well. Thanks, Cecilia and Leggs. I guess I'm going for it. Why do I care

what a bunch of geeks think?

This is totally weird. Why on earth do they think you are like the mother

No kidding. Imagine how I felt reading it! I wanted to scream at them, " Hey!

No idea. I haven't read the book. I think she's actually a sister.

It wasn't that particular board. It was another one entirely. One of them

went into this long story about a woman who " invented " a child with some

illness and started raising funds, accepting donations, wrote a book, all

sorts of stuff -- only to find out later that the child didn't exist at all.

The person was accusing me of doing that even though I have never asked for

donations or money of any sort whatsoever. So you see, some people are very

evil and dishonest so they think everybody else is too.

I tend to stay away from non-autism discussion boards after this and similar

experiences.

>>They attacked me<< May I ask about what? I found Boone's site to be very

interesting and enjoyable to read BTW.

I don't get why people think it is wrong for you to sell Boone's thing if

1)people are asking for them 2) He doesn't mind.

I mean if you said " Boone, your quota for today is 16 Clocks, get building!! " ;)

Then maybe..LOL Just kidding

Re: need advice

No. I never even heard of Gibson or his books until it came up on

counter report. I like to keep track of who's linking to Boone's web page.

I'm not sure what I'd say to them or how they'd react. I did join a

discussion once before about Boone on another board. They attacked me.

Forget that!

I remember when I showed that web page to Chris.

He didn't believe me that Boone was 6! The look on his face was funny!

Then I explained everything. He was amazed.

There was a woman in Urbana, Ohio about 1 hour form me, who pretended

to have a daughter with cancer for money. She even gave her druga and

had her go to counseling to prepare to die. It was awful, but what

does that have to do with you? I guess I just can't stand judgemental

people. They have no clue of what are lives are like.
