Sometimes is in " studies " at local children's hospitals. I only put

her in things that there is no risk and that will help someone else's kids.

I put all the money into her own savings account.

If I were you I would take anything you could be paid for and put it all away

for Boone when he's older. That's just me.

Hugs I know you will make the right decision.

I personally don't feel that you'd be exploiting Boone at all. Every

person has something they excel at, that usually becomes their life's

work. Consider it an investment in his future. You're not pushing

it upon him. Point out it takes a lot of work and resources to raise

an Autie. Just because he's gifted too, why stifle it just because

he's autistic?

Oh I agree as far any an amount that is substantial. It has to be in a

trust set up for the child to protect his state supports should something

happen to the parents, then the state has to pay disability benefits or

whatever.

Gail,What does your doctor say. He doesn't whant you to take tylenol, so what does he recommend? There are lots of different pain treatments. Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Acupuncture, & Others, that all work to different degrees in different people. You (and your doctor) should weight the long and short term pros and cons of each one.

Ian

Could someone help me i have psc had it for 23yrs im doing well at this time.  I fell and broke my elbow(left) and right wrist in sep.   My doctor doent want me to take tylenol so what do i take ?????? I do still have some pain.   Gail in ma

Gail,

I agree with Ian that you and your Dr should have a discussion

about the pros and cons. I’ll share with you what my GI told me – even in

patients with cirrhosis he would allow a patient to take Tylenol for short

periods of time but not to exceed 2 grams per day. This is half of the “normal”

daily maximum dose. At the same time he told me that I should be more cautious

and not pop them with minor aches I could live with.

Gail,

My Hep said exactly the same thing that

Rick’s GI said. He also added that I should not take NSAIDs with an

inflammatory disease.

NSAIDs should not be taken with diuretics either. My doctors let me take 8-9

Norco a day. they don't seem to be too concerned, but then I have severe pain

issues. Cheryl ID

My GI said Tylenol was fine in small doses. He only let me have the codeine

version during my stays at the hospital. The reason being the extra stomach

discomfort from the codeine.

What do you guys think about Low dose Aspirin 81mg one pill a day?

Thanks

I would ask your doctor for medication advice. Watching emails for the past 3 years, there are divergent opinions - for example, some PSC'ers are advised that small doses of Tylenol are OK (my son is similar to you, with the OK of one Tylenol twice a day being fine) and his GI is very opposed to use of NSAIDs (due to risk of GI issues from UC). Other PSC'ers doctors have been OK with NSAIDs are less comfortable with Tylenol.

Both acetaminophen and non-steroidals are metabolized by the liver and kidney, thus given an individual's specific case, again, I'd want your doctor to guide you. ASA is hard on GI system, with increased risk of bleeding, thus I would be concerned if any UC/Crohn's.

Part of what medications we take depends not only on our livers but on what

other meds we take. If we are on diuretics then all NSAIDs are out of the

question. I used to sneak some baby aspirin to give a little boost to my pain

meds, then I found out that it would negate the effect of diuretics. It's very

important to have a good relationship with your pharmacist. I take Norco 325/10

tylenol/codeine. Hope you find something that can help you. I HATE pain. take
