My mom shared a similar story about her first post-THR meal. She took the lid off, and said it looked just like canned dog food. She asked the nurse what it was *supposed* to be, and she replied " French Toast " . My mom couldn't wait to get out of there and have my dad cook for her, and that is saying a lot! Wasn't JRI, but WAS in So Cal. Wonder if they hired the " chef " away from her hospital? The meals at Salem hospital were decent. You ordered from a menu when *you* wanted to eat, and it came reasonably quickly and was generally pretty good. I had lots of salad, and usually had an omelet (and they were HUGE) for breakfast. I did learn quickly though to skip the cafeteria coffee and snag some from the nurses station. They know how to make coffee!
