Greeting to my EMS family,

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and is looking forward to the

Christmas holiday. It was great seeing many of you at the Texas EMS

Conference and GETAC.

Now on a more personal note:

I have noticed many of us in EMS are struggling with weight issues,

including me. I encourage you to join me with Maxie's Challenge. Read about it

in the current edition of the Texas EMS magazine or on facebook at

It's time we do something for ourselves and our families by preventing

some disease processes or at least getting them under control. This is not a

diet and you don't have to become a gym rat or eat certain foods (although

doing so will produce faster results) but is a lifestyle change which

should create a healthier you. Let's start by eating less and increasing our

activity; it's that simple. Then you can progress to eating healthier meals

and increasing your activity. Consult your doctor and get baseline labs.

You will be surprised of the results these changes will make in time.

Cut the consumption of the food you eat and get off that couch as I am

attempting to do. It is not easy but beginning with small steps will lead to

larger ones. You don't have to wait until the 1st of the year. Deciding to

make this change; the life you save will be your own.

Get on board; We can do it!

Maxie
