Hiya guys

Have finally decided to go private. Although I really can't afford

it it's just not worth hanging about on the 6 month waiting list to

find out at the end of it all that my hip had degenerated so much

that I have to have a THR (in which case I'd have to wait about

another 2 years coz I've got pins in my femur that'd have to come

out first).

I'm having it done by Treacy in Birmingham. Thing is, I'm from

Glasgow, I feel because of the distance between us that I'm missing

out on some vital info about preparing for the operation.

I know I have to see my dentist first and I've tried to stop going

out and drinking and having sly ciggies. But what else do I need to

do? SHould I stop taking my pills? (Naproxen).

Is there anything else I should really be doing but am not?

Cheers

Hi Mo

I had my second resurfacing done by Mr Treacy. A great choice. When

is the op scheduled for?Which hospital will you be in?

I received a little booklet from Mr Treacy's team with guidance on

how to prepare and what to expect from / after the operation.

I stopped all anti-inflamatories two weeks before. I also bought

the 'Heal your Hips' book (one of the authors is Ms Huey, I

think) and followed some of the simple muscle strengthening

excercises in there.
