Guest guest
What if we're already teaching all the " transition " techniques and have been for years? Guest guest
Then you have double the work ahead of you. Essentially, you're going to first have to take a regression course...then go through a full transition course, landing you right back where you are now, but with blessings. >________________________________ > >To: texasems-l >Sent: Tuesday, September 27, 2011 6:55 PM >Subject: Re: National Registry transition courses > > > >What if we're already teaching all the " transition " techniques and have been for years? > >GG > > National Registry transition courses >> > >> > Has anyone heard anything about Texas's plans for the National Registry >> > ransition courses? Guest guest
Well yes. I must now attend a course to teach me what I have been teaching for years. When I complete that, if I pass, then I will be certified as a Paramedic, which I already am in two states. And then when I jump through the hoops to become an instructor, so that I can teach what I have been teaching since about 1998, then once again I will be certified to teach what I have been teaching. But I will have the brand of approval from NREMT. And my students will then be able to take the transition course that will take them from what they know to what they know, and they will then be certified as Paramedics, which they already are. The world is a strange and wonderful place. Mostly strange. Guest guest
As I understand it, the states have agreed to this. Further, if we as NREMT-Ps don't take this course but want to remain nationally certified, we will then be downgraded to NRAEMT. But, at that time, will the state continue to recognize us as paramedics? How does this affect those who have chosen not to keep their national registry? Guest guest
All very good questions. I am so glad National Registry has been so helpful and forthcoming with all this new information. Guest guest
From The July-August 2011 issue of Texas EMS Magazine, an article by Harrell: " If you are certified in Texas EMS and you are not nationally registered or don’t care about maintaining your National Registry certification, you don’t have to do anything except follow the Texas recertification process to be certified in Texas. " So the nutshell what I get from that is - Texas isn't altering it's certification level and it will not impact you. You can read the article at: http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/WorkArea/linkit.aspx?LinkIdentifier=id&ItemID=858995\ 5979--- It doesn't give much information other than dates and deadlines, but it will hopefully assuage anyone who is concerned about their Texas State Certification.
