Guest guest
Well, I have never actually been shot at in EMS, but our station was shot up one night by the neighbors. Scary thing for the dispatcher inside the building... then again, shootings were pretty common in that neighborhood. Probably just some stray rounds from a drive-by. There were several areas we responded to where carrying the O2 tank was mandatory. Not because the patient was going to need O2, but as a weapon, if needed. > > > On Tuesday, January 11, 2011 17:03, lnmolino@... said: > > > > > According to _http://www.odmp.org _ (http://www.odmp.org ) there were 59 > > > LEO's killed by gunfire and another 2 by accidental gunfire in 2010 and as > > > of 5 minutes ago 2 LEO's killed by gunfire in 2011. > > > > > > So much for myth huh? > > > > We're talking about being shot AT, not being killed. Two separate statistics. And even then, it has to be averaged out per capita. I'm sure that Bob Kellow remembers bullet holes in ambulances and stations (Kellis Street) as far back as 1977. > > > > I always found it humorous that my family worried more about me as a cop than in fire or EMS. All of my injuries and violent encounters came in the latter fields. Well, unless you count the time I was hit by a car while directing traffic. > > > > Rob > > > > > > > >
