Guest guest
Hi Sheila, the pain started as if I'd pulled a muscle (it started 1 week after Glastonbury 2 years ago so I just thought I'd over done it) However it got worse and worse the pain would get much worse if I sat or lay down, then if I took steps from sitting it would be agony, really really painful, the pain was deep inside the joint, and often the pain didn't make sense, I'd walk 2 miles without much of a problem then sit and get really uncomfortable, try to move and literally couldn't as the pain was unbearable. Sometimes it would hurt to stand on it, or if I stood and let my leg hang then after 2 mins reapply the weight it was awful. The blood tests showed slightly elevated figures. The bone scans showed some concerns, but still the surgeons wouldn't swear it was infected. They put me on Flucloxacillin. I think they did it to prove it wasn't an infection, after 1 week I was off my walking stick and nearly back to work, If I stopped taking them for 2 days the pain would return with a vengeance. I'm still taking them now (around 6 months) when I go in for the revision surgery if theres any sign of infection theu will remove the BHR femur bit, and some of the femur, put me back together without a hip joint and I'll have to go back in the future (unsure how long) for the THR. Hopefully the large head metal on metal THR will work with the pelvis part of my BHR and I can keep that. Hope this helps 20/08/1972 LBHR 04/09/01 Kent UK Re: Morag Hi , I wonder if you would mind explaining the symptoms of your infection? It might help others here. I am due for my second resurf on the 21st of this month. I hope you have more luck with your THR. Thanks Sheila.
