Guest guest
It is almost 2 years since my resurfacing by Dr. Vail at Duke. I still check this site, but read only those that seem pertinent to me. I recommend to those on the fence- get it done!! I am a 54 year old teacher and former coach who could barely walk across a soccer field 2 years ago. Within a few months I was hitting tennis balls, and playing a little at 6 months. After a year I was playing tournaments and leagues again at the 4.0 and 4.5 levels, mainly doubles. Now I play singles and doubles 4 or 5 times a week. At about 9 months, I did get plantar fasiitis in my left heel (unoperated side)which was very painful especially first thing in the morning. Ice, gentle massaging (a rolling pin works great,) and a heel support/cushion helped, but it was a good month before it felt OK. Also, I was told to never walk barefoot, which I always had in the house. So now I wear soccer sandals in the house at all times. My left calf is definitely tighter than my right, but it does not bother me at all. I personally know three people who were resurfaced by Dr. Vail, and all are doing well. A tennis buddy has an appointment with him soon. Anyway, it is late, and I have a 9:00 singles match in the morning, mow the grass in the afternoon, and doubles tomorrow night. And, I'll be ready for more on Thursday. A'int life great!!!!--- in NC
