Guest guest
Just wanted to share with my CEDA family that rarest of things these days - some good news! I hadn't been looking forward to today as after a long, painful sleepless night the idea of a dentist appt and PT session seemed like pure torture - but I have been very pleasantly surprised! Firstly my new dentist is a lovely, young guy with a humour to rival that of my OS Mac and best of all....he has learned all about connective tissue disorders! I was shell shocked when he knew of EDS/Marfan and just understood the situation. He is automatically treating me with care and taking all the necessary precautions. He's even contacting my cardiologists to see if I require antibiotic cover before he repairs my tooth fracture and is going to use a special extra strength numbing agent combination because of my poor reaction to normal locals. He's an absolute gem and a definite keeper - seems I got lucky with a medical guy for a change!! Yay!! The second bit of good news today came form PT - I have been discharged from formal therapy as I've made such brilliant progress and worked so hard! I can now continue my PT home, but I have reached maximum levels of mobility and strength I will recover following the restructuring Mac has performed internally, and without any sign of instability so far. I am thrilled with how good a job Mac has done and my therapist is thrilled at how hard I've work on my rehab - so I'd say that our combined efforts have produced the results this time. It is going to be so great having the PT report as successful rehab when I see Mac next week - he will be so happy! I am just so pleased not only for having a stable shoulder at the moment, but also for Mac as he took a huge risk performing such risky and ad-hoc surgery on me. I owe him big time for this. We both know that this wont last and I will eventually need more surgery when this begins failing again, but with his courage and ingenuity Mac has hopefully given me a few more years before facing the very drastic bony reconstruction options. He may be an arrogant, brusque Orthopod to many people, but he really is a hero to me :-) Anyway, just wanted to share some good news for a change as I'm sure you are all sick and tired of hearing of each disaster I seem to lurch from week by week! I'm off to try and get some sleep before my helium filled neighbours brat starts squealing again as I have another early start for my 8:30am wrist MRI, then cardiac monitor fitting tomorrow. Take care everyone and know that I am thinking of you all. Love and hugs.....Jo xxx " Your attitude determines your altitude in life "
