Dear Surfacehippy group,

Just found out about you today. Our 14-year-old daughter has

deteriorated hip due to avascular necrosis, possibly Juvenile Rheumatod

Arthritis (JRA) and maybe also hip dysplasia. She is a candidate for

THR but we're wondering if maybe she could have hip resurfacing instead.

She has been an athlete until recently. (This all happened in the last

year.) Does anyone know a good surgeon in the Southern California area?

We live in Carlsbad in San Diego county.

Thanks,

Virginia

A few words about net etiquette and this forum.

I'd like to have a free and open exchange of information in this

forum. When I say in the introduction, " ... feel free to speak your

onions " , I mean it. It is important for us all to know about the

good and bad outcomes.

That said, please try to be fair and tell the whole story. Stick

to the facts. Dwelling on a specific disagreement and addressing

professionals as being unethical (just short of namecalling,

essentially)

only dilutes factual arguments, and, indeed, has alienated some who

could potentially help us.

If anyone has a problem with a specific poster's behavior it is

best to send them a personal e-mail and say so. Better to do this in

email than fill the message queue with analysis of who is right or

wrong or acting poorly. I've seen it happen in other e-mail groups --

somehow its is easier to lapse into a confrontational mode in this

impersonal communication method. Of course its low to send email

anonymously or infuse it with hate. If you receive complaints about

your posts please try to use such criticism constructively in future

posts. Also, don't take criticism personally, its impossible to

please everyone.

Finally, it IS bad etiquette to share a personal letter or email

publicly without the author's permission. However, when you write

a letter or email consider that it might be made public; don't

write what you wouldn't want read back to you some day.

Good luck to all in dealing with their hip problems,

-
