Coug, I have been doing this stuff for 23 years now and been a medic for over

15. But, I know there was no way you could have known that, and you are correct

about the difficulty that new medics are having in finding good jobs. The fact

the there are multiple companies out there getting shut down and that is a good

thing, it hurts those who are trying to find work. One of the fears I have about

this is that employers may take advantage of this and lower wages becuase of the

market. On interesting story I have is about a Houston EMS company that posted

an add for paramedics. When I went to apply, I found out two important things.

One, we I spoke to them via phone, the person who answered could not speak

english well and when I was able to communicate what I ws wanting to do, he said

' Just slide your resume under the door.'. The second thing was when I was

walking down the hallway in the buildging that this company was located in I saw

several dorrs ( 4 ) that had different EMS company names on them. One was open

it all it was was a single room with a buch of junk in it. In the back parking

lot there was 12 ambulances parked with different names on them to match the

ones I saw. I have no doubt that they are all owned by the same person and makes

me wonder why they have so many different names. I think, I have no way to back

this u mind you,is in

case one company gets shutdown they can reopen right away using a different

name. Lord only knows how much I want to stay out of privet EMS. There are lots

of good honest companies out there but there are a whole more more dishonest

ones.

And.....what planet did you just arrive from?? Just

Joking......seriously......over 200 ambulance companies shut down over the past

few months, in Houston. If you find an employed EMT on an ambulance in Houston,

they are with the city, a major company, or one that has contracts for private

pay or H2H. The dialysis/psych industry has been shut down. I do hope you are

not under the impression that you can run out and get a job in Houston, as an

EMT. At least not right now.

I'll keep my Guns, my Freedom and my MONEY,

You can keep the " CHANGE. "
