Guest guest
Henry, at the last GETAC meeting it was mentioned. The State stated if this did happen at some point in the future, it would not affect those already certified in Texas. We will see about that. Also, how about those transition courses? We are told the state doesn't know what they should consist of, what the content hours should be, or how long they should be. That if we send in a schedule that says " Transition Course " on it along with a notification form AND fee, they will approve it. Why should we have to pay for classes that impact only those that are NR certified, want to remain NR certified and went through a course that didn't teach the 2009 EMS Educational Guidelines? If we can teach these courses as CE, which was stated, why do we have to pay for every one we will have to do for our NR folks that want to remain NR certified? The answer is: we shouldn't have to! Guest guest
I think the reason for that course notification to the state is so that NR will recognize the course as being " state approved " . Otherwise, the course won't count. It also means that if the course is state approved, we can use distributive education even though the course may be in excess of what NR allows in that format. Guest guest
Henry, This came up in the August GETAC Committee meetings. I believe it was brought up originally in the Cardiac Committee. The EMS Committee that I chair put this on our agenda in November and had good discussion on pros and cons. We decided to talk with the cardiac committee and have their folks meet with us in the February meeting to see what the goals were for this suggestions before we moved on. There was also some statements made that one of the committee's, potentially the cardiac committee put this in as a suggested rule change in the review of Chapter 157 as a whole that was done through the first 9 months of 2011. If this is the case, we will have more opportunity to discuss the merits of it if DSHS feels they can legally require it as the rule making process moves forward. Either way, no final action is near on this but your input would be greatly welcomed in the upcoming GETAC Meetings. Dudley National Registry So what about the rumor I hear that there is a push to make National Registry for everyone. Not just the new folks coming in.
