This one is perfect Aase!

I especially like the redwood look aspect.

It is so expensive.

I will look into my insurance to see if it is covered.

I will have my dad look at it and see if it can be adapted to my tub.

I think it will go right in the back and flip out of the way when I don't

need it.

I will continue to look at the other stuff when I am feeling better

tomorrow.

If you come into more of the same please let me know.

Re: Bath tub grab bar, seat that folds up ....

Hi Debbi,

Flip down seats are available, but I have never seen them used over a

tub. As I have understood from my OT friend, they are meant for use

in shower stalls... For all I know they might make wider ones that

would go to the other side of the tub and provide a proper tub seat,

but I have never seen one like that.

What is really good for use with a bath tub, is a seat that goes

straight over the whole tub. It is slightly wider at the outside of

the tub, so you can sit down on it from the outside, and swing your

legs over and get inside the tub to shower or lower yourself down

into the water by using a grab bar. That way you can get into the tub

safely, with no danger of falling or anything. If you don't want to

use it all the time, it can easily be stored somewhere, doesn't take

much space at all. You can also get them with a swingable seat on top

of it, with a back and armrests, but I prefer the simple type.

Here's some links for you:

http://www.grabbarsonline.com/shower_seats/shower_seats_bath_tub_seats.htm

(good site, all sorts of stuff, including flip down seats! Even

stainless steel...)

This one is cool, made for a bath tub:

HEWI Bath Tub Seat - Removable Hanging Seat. You hang it onto one of

their grab bars, so with a long one, you could easily move it along

the bar to get it out of the way too. Seems real neat... Comes in a

variety of colors too!

To get comfy in the bath, inflatable pillows for your neck and to sit

on (UK site):

Not my flavor of seat, but....:

and (bath room section):

For the outside of the tub, this rail is really good:

I could go on forever, there's a lot of sites. Didn't find the type

of seat I have though... If you go to http://www.etac.com and choose

the English flag, go to " hygiene " bathroom etc. and find the Rufus

bath board (bad picture though, blends in with the background)... It

is a very easy and simple thing, really useable, and can't be too

expensive either... It is also safe, it has special legs inside that

goes along the inside of the tub, really hugging it so the board

can't move. On the Norwegian site this is called " Badekarbrett

Fresh " , and the picture is a whole lot better. But the site is one of

those where the link doesn't change when you move around, so I can't

give you an exact URL to see it. So I saved the pic and uploaded it

to the photo page so you can go there and see it. The one I have,

looks exactly like it, it just doesn't have the handle. But that is

neat, gives you another grab bar along the wall. The widest sides it

to go where you sit down to enter the tub (can't have a handle

there)... It really looks like the Rufus bath board, so maybe it has

that name in other countries?

Good luck, hope you find what you are looking for...
