Guest guest
At first that was what I thought that the message was saying. At first I thought that would be great, and fascinating, but after thinking about it, I imagine that when the wait time was too long for a patient's liking, they would be much more adamant about receiving treatment from the ambulance and not being transported to the emergency room. Regardless of the time, I think it would focus the patient on the emergency room and takes them away from the scene. They'd brush off anything that was happening with the paramedic, because they're two steps ahead of where our focus is. Of course, each person would react differently and unpredictably. I'm just not sure that advertising the wait time would be the greatest idea we've had in emergency medicine. Though, I am fascinated to hear what everyone else thinks about this. I think that it really comes down to a very fundamental question about our profession - do we exist solely as extensions of the hospital, there to serve them, or are we a new sort of medical practitioner?
