Guest guest
ok, make that the fourth time, and I've snipped a bunch of old stuff out. third time is a charm. not sure why things were zipped twice but here's the gist: from Aggiesrwe03 (Chris) makes the guess: Sub therapeutic reaction to Lamortigine (used for bipolar disorder), benzos are used to control acute mania until a therapeutic level is reached in the blood. my response: correct basic diagnosis, correct medication, wrong indication. Why would you expect a patient on *both* Lamortrigine (Lamictal) AND Lithium to display manic symptoms if she has (reportedly) been taking her medications as prescribed. Describe the signs and symptoms of acute mania, and compare to what this patient is displaying. Besides a base diagnosis of bipolar disorder, what else is going on with this patient's mental status? ck
Guest guest
Just on a side note, can anyone tell me why I only get about a third of the list replies in my in box, the remainder end up in my bulk mail? Very frustrating going back and forth trying to make sure I do miss anything. Anyway, I'm really enjoying this great discussion and fascinating case. Back to the hunt. Sent from my iPhone, McGee, EMT-P, EMT-T ok, make that the fourth time, and I've snipped a bunch of old stuff out. third time is a charm. not sure why things were zipped twice but here's the gist: from Aggiesrwe03 (Chris) makes the guess: Sub therapeutic reaction to Lamortigine (used for bipolar disorder), benzos are used to control acute mania until a therapeutic level is reached in the blood. my response: correct basic diagnosis, correct medication, wrong indication.
