Pamela, At least you have access to some sort of healthcare. There are 45 million people here in the United States who don't - despite the fact that Americans pay *more* for health care than anyone else on the planet. We spend nearly 14% of our GDP on healthcare costs, as opposed to a little less than 10% in Canada. Bear in mind that the per-capita GDP in the United States is about 40% higher than Canada's, and you'll see that, on a per-person basis, we're spending about twice as much as our neighbors to the North. In exchange for that, we have shorter life expectancy, higher infant mortality, and 45 million people with no healthcare coverage at all. That's 50% more people than even *live* in your country.
