Guest guest
hi nancy, thanks for asking about my thumb. It's calmed down a good deal since a cast (3/4 up the forearm type) was put on last Monday after it was x-rayed and found in good alignment. wish this cast didn't need to be taken off this coming Monday so stitches can come out. wonder if he'd care if I went with the same kind of cast for the next month? It seems the hand casts put too much pull on my wrist joints/ligaments. (from past experience-which left me with some lasting problems in the area that I haven't mentioned to him yet.) Plus wrist movement causes the thumb to hurt more....right now I'm having very little thumb pain-but a heck of a lot of shoulder pain on the other side-of all things. (it gives me chronic problems. it no longer dislocates it merely glides out when I hang my arm at my side. I've known for 20 yrs it's bad, but have never had surgery on it. taping only made it worse. think I may ask for some PT on it to get it comfortable only. I have to use the cane in that hand now too with my knee so bad. have you ever had days that stretch into weeks when it feels like your whole body is falling apart. [as if I need to ask *you* that question!! duh!?!?!?] but seriously it gets pretty darn depressing at times to have one joint after another going down the tubes all because one joint has problems and the others are being over stressed to compensate. grrrrrrrr nuff of my gripes for the day!!! How are things going for you....i've missed lots of posts because our computer has been down for a couple of days. did catch that you met cindyc! how fantastic!!!! love, cindyh wisc. ps what state do you live in? I sure would ask about it. right now I'm having very little thumb pain-but a heck of a lot of shoulder pain on the other side-of all things. My left shoulder is killing me, and I've had twitches in my thumb for days - but they are almost gone now, thank goodness. However, the shoulder doesn't cooperate as easily. > but seriously it gets pretty darn depressing at times to have one joint after another going down the tubes all because one joint has problems and the others are being over stressed to compensate. grrrrrrrr ..............Yes, that is SO TRUE, Cindy! It's tiring too, both physically and mentally - at least it is for me. I just had to butt in and say HI to you! I've been meaning to call you, but things have been so crazy, I'm just trying to catch my breath. Perhaps I'll try sometime this weekend? Hang in there, OK? Praying for you!
