My three year anniversary (for the first hip) is next week. I try to do

something new for each anniversary. A week early, but tonight I walked

Glendoveer golf course here in Portland. It is our local golf course with

a fitness track around the outside of the course. Total walk was 2

miles. I tried Glendoveer once, many years pre-op, made it to the first

turn (about 1/8 of a mile) and turned around and went home. I realize this

is nothing for the runners or the more fit of you, but pre-op, I was barely

able to walk to my next door neighbors house. In January, when I was

determined to really start exercising, I barely made it to the 1/4 mile

mark on the video ( Sansone walking video) before being ready to

collapse. As usual, my lower back tried to go into spasms, and by the end

my legs were starting to feel a little jelly-like, but I made it. I feel

like I've had a good workout, and my legs will probably be sore tomorrow,

but I HAVE NO PAIN!!!! How good is that??!!!!!!

The third anniversary is coming up for the second hip the end of June. I

will be in Tacoma that weekend at a handbell conference (an entire weekend

of standing rehearsals, walking to classes, ringing concerts, etc), but am

still trying to think of something new to try. Any ideas would be appreciated!
