Hi Joyce,

I was relatively conservative with stretching and strength

training. I didn't start therapy til week 6, and even now, do only

mimimal stretches at the hip itself. It just doesn't feel " safe "

yet. I can walk all I want to, but squatting type exercises don't go

well. I still lack strength, & flexibility on the surgical hip. I

can only get to about 95-100 degrees flexion on my resurf side. I

just seems like everyone is different. Some people have different

trouble areas than others. I have done the stairmaster at least 3

times a week for a month now, no doubt it has been the best exercise

for me. It is the kind of machine where the stairs come down at you

and you have to actually " step " , as opposed to the stair-type

machine where you just pump your legs in a stair climbing fashion.

Anyway, it forces me to use a greater range of motion, and it is

great for strength. Where do you sieze? And what does it feel like?

And have you asked your Dr. about it? Is it like when your muscle

gets tired from lifting weights? Inquiring minds want to know. And

the only incantation I have found to work involves dancing naked on

a table with a lamp shade on your head....are you sure your'e ready

for that?
