All my other cats used scratching posts, but the last one. I too put cat nip on it, and even took her paws and showed her how to do it, lol… she still preferred the wood and cardboard. She was found outside a dumpster at KFC, and they didn’t know how long she had been abandoned. She had been fixed, so they thought the owners would be looking for her. After many attempts of advertising no one showed up. She was a beautiful cat, but had mental problems. I tried not to get too attached at first, but even at a little over having her for 3 mo’s, I still missed her when we had to give her back. (Himself found this in the yard last night) I have three scratching post type things for these 9 indoor kitties. I put catnip on the scratchers and the cats are really pretty good about scratching where they are supposed to scratch. Cats can certainly be destructive! hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. (Himself found this in the yard last night) Tina that adopted cat we had liked to scratch wood and cardboard. Not a nice sound to wake up to seeing’s how I still have unpacked boxes in my bedroom. [it’s only been 10 years! Geeshh… L] Anyhow many of the doors and moldings have scratch marks up and down them. We even had the coolest kitty condo with lots of areas for scratching but she preferred the other. Never did use the condo except the top box to sleep in. Cats can be so weird at times.Hugs Jackie From: MSersLife [mailto:MSersLife ] On Behalf Of Tina SchmidtSent: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 12:32 PMTo: MSersLife Subject: Re: Surprise! It's a girl! (Himself found this in the yard last night) Jackie, that reminds me of my old deaf cat, Butch. We slept with our doors closed, but if he wanted in the room after we went to sleep, he would meow and run his paws down the door - and he was loud! Usually he wanted my brother's room, so my mom started telling him to make sure the cat was in his room before he went to sleep! And the cat's got so used to my mom's work schedule that on weekends, they would be meowing for breakfast at 5 am!Tina In my younger years I slept soundly. Now not so much. Any creek or bump in the night will wake me, and even tho I can go back to sleep, it makes for a lot of broken sleep so I don’t feel refreshed when I do get up. We have paper thin walls so even shutting my door doesn’t block out the noise. If I don’t get my needed sleep I am soooooooooooo crabby! Then I fall asleep in my chair at my desk, and later watching TV, and I don’t like that much. So I would have to have a cat that knows how to tiptoe thru the house, and have a muted meow button. Lol…. Well not really, just kidding but you get the idea. Lol… hugs Jackie
