Thanks for being worried about me, Cait. I was in a lot of pain yesterday afternoon and evening but it's better today. The dogs barked a lot between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. I looked out the window but didn't see anything. The dogs have a tendency, I think, to be more nervous and alert when it's just me here. Yippy doesn't look like anything ever happened to him now and the redness around his eye is gone. Why did you stop at "To the Nines"? I love Sue Grafton but she writes so slowly! Have you ever read any Grisham books? I have "The Associate" and just can't stick with it.Let us know if the Kindle comes!

Glad you posted. For some unknown reason I was worried about you last night. Poor Yippy but at least he didn't go into anaphylactic *spelled wrong* shock.

Nope to having read Sizzling 16. I'm totally neurotic about reading books in order so I came to a temporary halt after "To the Nines". I'm the same way with Sue Grafton's alphabet titled series. Today I came home with an armful of hardcovers (find them easier on my eyes than paperbacks). Let's see, a couple of 's, Kellerman's, Lee 's "Bright Forever", Kate McCann's "Madelaine" and the first 2 of the Reykjavik Murder series by Arnaldur Indridason. The last is a new one to me but Reb got me looking into other authors.

I'm hoping the parcel that went to pick up at the border yesterday and I couldn't go along is a Kindle for my birthday. He cannot understand why I read so much and always blames it for my headaches. Possibly true but I love getting lost in a good book. Though nothing heavy in this heat! And a Kindle would mean he didn't have to lug me and my books back to the library every week! ... hugs, Cait

my life

My life has been so boring that I haven't written much. My family has been gone camping since Sunday (be home tomorrow). I have read three books. I get up about 5 a.m. and drink a cup of cocoa and listen to the morning news on the radio. Then I put my cell phone in my pocket and go let chickens and ducks out of their house, feed them and water them. I call the barn kitties for their breakfast and check on little orphaned kitty. I go back to lock the poultry up at dusk.

That's been my life pretty much. QUIET. I enjoy quiet but I know I'll be glad to see the family again.

My special dog, Yippy, worried me yesterday. He apparently made contact with a wasp because his lip and his eye were swollen. He had rubbed his eye against something trying to "fix" it and he was skinned up and had hair missing around his eye. He was crying and I had to give him a lot of extra attention. Today he is better but is still being a mamma's boy.

I have read "Sizzling 16" by Janet Evanovich, "Skinwalkers" by Tony Hillerman and "Riptide" by Coulter. Now I am reading "The Formative Years" by Clarence L. Var Steeg. The last one is a history (1607-1763) of England and parts of Europe as they apply to the immigrants coming to this country and in the colonies. I thought it might help me with my genealogy research.

It takes me about 10 minutes each day to do my dishes. Totally a massive change from when the family is here. So the family is on vacation and so am I!

hugs
