Beans do take a long time to cook but they are worth it. I like to make bean soup out of the small white beans or the Great Northern beans--yum! Your recipe sounds really good, Akiba! My favorite is to cook pinto beans for bowls of beans or for refrieds.Congrats on the new slow cooker. That's the one electric appliance I truly miss since I live off grid.hugsSharonThis email is a natural hand made product. I hope so too. Yesterday I premiered my new slow cooker, made beans. I usually "make" beans from a can, never really made them "from scratch", so they took a LOT longer then I thought (and the recipe insinuated). Last night they were still, well, not done. I'd added rice and kielbasa, and had cooked them with smoked ham hocks. Cut the meat off the hocks, etc...still not really good. SO we put the insert in the fridge and today put it back into the cooker and cooked for a few more hours. And ya know what? They came out great! Maybe that is why they are Great Northern Beans...??? Of course the other unexpected thing is I have enough to feed an impoverished country for a week......

Both Robbin and I are a wee but on the pooky side, just mostly congested but it's a pain ...I am going to roast a nice chicken, I gave Robbin the choice between Yorkshire Pudding, Stuffing or both and he chose the Yorkshire (smart lad), that and green beans, maybe corn and pie for dessert. That should do it, not sure if I will have energy for more cooking then that, or eating, cuz when I get tired I can't eat, so I have to make sure I have enough energy left over to eat
